Asad Syrkett

Asad Syrkett is a Brooklyn-based design editor and journalist with experience growing digital brands, managing people and projects, and hosting videos and podcasts.

Hello! I’m Asad Syrkett (ser-ket), an editor and design journalist based in Brooklyn.

I've written and edited stories about architecture, decor, urbanism, technology, fashion, art, travel, and issues of race and gender in the design world.

Currently, I'm the Deputy Editor at Curbed, a Vox Media brand. I spend my days managing a five-person team of senior reporters and editors, running special projects (including weekly original home tours, bi-annual shopping guides, and Curbed’s Travel vertical), and thinking about the best ways to showcase our journalism on an ever-expanding number of digital platforms. Previously, I was on the editorial staff at Architectural DigestArchitectural Recordand Interview magazines.

I’ve co-hosted two seasons of a weekly podcast called The Curbed Appeal (you can listen to all 20 episodes on iTunes), appeared on a panel at Design Miami, hosted a four-part video series on design history, moderated an official SXSW roundtable, and been a talking head on Canadian public radio. In 2017, I was a Folio: magazine 30 Under 30 honoree. You can take a look at my full résumé here.
